With 21,000 student views and 11,000 posts in just eight months, the GESMM has become a vital resource, integrating insights from students, alumni, and employers across 16 countries and 20 disciplines while ensuring accessibility through transcribed video content and interactive tools. Its success is reflected in 94% of students reporting improved career planning, inspiring further innovation, including the University’s first micro-credential pilot and an upcoming Strengths micro-module in 2025.

Kelli Smith, AVP for Student Success, Fleishman Career Center
The Skills Lab initiative at Binghamton University, launched in Spring 2023, provides students with hands-on experience in high-demand, industry-relevant skills through interactive sessions led by employers and alumni. These 75-90 minute labs allow students to explore careers, practice essential skills, and build professional networks while giving employers a unique opportunity to observe and engage with potential talent before they apply. Due to its success in enhancing employer relations and alumni engagement, the university will open a state-of-the-art Skills Lab space on campus in January 2027.
Best Faculty Program
Katy Gordon, Director of Careers, Employability & Student Enterprise
The University of Southampton’s Successful Futures (SF) project helps students develop and articulate employability skills by aligning skill acquisition with their evolving career ideas. Unlike traditional models, SF integrates a mandatory university-wide approach, mapping all 565 degree programs to an employability skills framework and embedding career-relevant pathways into the curriculum. Launched in late 2024 with an AI-driven skills assessment tool, SF is set to revolutionize career education by ensuring students engage with up-to-date industry requirements while exploring their career options.
Best University Employer Partnership
Gavin Connell, Head of Careers
The Early Careers Employer Forum (ECEF), led by the University of Limerick, is transforming graduate and placement recruitment in Ireland through a comprehensive survey and national publication. Engaging over 400 employers in 2024, the survey provides critical insights into recruitment trends, skills gaps, salary benchmarks, and diversity initiatives, helping employers refine their talent strategies. Beyond data collection, the ECEF fosters collaboration between employers, students, and higher education institutions, enhancing graduate employability and strengthening industry partnerships.
Best Diversity, Equality and Inclusion Program
Alan McAlpine, Director Student Success/Careers & Employability
Curtin University’s Careers and Employability team, in partnership with the Western Australian Public Sector, launched the state’s first Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander university internship program in April 2024 to address employment barriers faced by Indigenous students. Through culturally safe recruitment practices, yarning-based engagement, and personalized career support, the program secured 15 paid internships, with several students receiving ongoing job offers. With plans to expand to regional students and introduce biannual intakes, this initiative is setting a new standard for inclusive employment pathways and reconciliation efforts in Western Australia.
