  • What will the weather be like in Toronto in March?
    March can be an unpredictable month for weather in Toronto. While temperatures are rising from the deep cold of January & February, the average daily temperature in March is 1°C (34°F), and temperatures typically sit between 4°C (39°F) and -2°C (28°F).

    What clothing should I bring?
    Dressing warmly is essential for getting around Toronto in March. Bring a warm, waterproof winter jacket, as well as hats, gloves and a scarf. For footwear, bring warm, waterproof boots or shoes.

    What currency should I bring?
    International travellers can get Canadian dollars international debit cards. There are ATMS everywhere in Toronto; we recommend checking with your bank about additional international transaction fees. Note that the province of Ontario has a 13% Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) which is applicable to most goods, services, food and beverages.

    What is the gift exchange? What book am I supposed to bring for it?
    On Wednesday March 13, the morning will kick off with an icebreaker activity. We’ve designed this to be a gift exchange with a new colleague, whom you haven’t met before. Delegates will introduce themselves and exchange a gift. This year’s gift theme is a book on a topic of relevance to you professionally. This can be anything from career advising, to a bestseller on the future of work. If it helped you professionally, then it’s a literature gift candidate. Simply bring the book with you on the Wednesday morning.

    How do I book extra nights at the hotel?
    Summit registration includes 3 nights at the Marriott Courtyard Toronto Downtown: March 12, 13 & 14. For additional nights beyond these, please make your own reservation. After you’ve done so, be sure to let us know at toronto2019@gcssummit.org, so we can let our contact at the hotel know.

    How do I get from the airport to the hotel?
    There are plenty of taxis available at the airport, and a ride downtown will cost you $50-$60 CAD. Rideshare services such as Lyft will cost a similar amount. Both will take anywhere from 30-60 minutes, depending on traffic.

    For the fastest and cheapest way downtown from the airport, we recommend taking the UP Express to Union Station. A one-way adult fare is $12.35.

    To then get to the hotel from Union Station, you can take a taxi or rideshare, or take the subway four stops up to College Station. The Marriott Courtyard is a 6 minute walk north from there.

    What is the best way to get around Toronto?
    Getting around Toronto is easy using the TTC, as well as taxis or ridesharing services.

    What is there to see and do in Toronto?
    Nearly 6 million people call Toronto home. As Canada’s largest city, Toronto offers a wide range of sites to consider for a visit while in town. To name a few: the Royal Ontario Museum, the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Distillery Historic District, St. Lawrence Market, the TIFF Bell Lightbox, Evergreen Brickworks, the Eaton Centre, the Aga Khan Museum, and the Beaches Winter Stations.
